My Process
I prefer to work from life, and will meet with you in your home (additional
travel fee), or in my studio. Please be prepared to spend 1-2 hours at each
session. The number of sessions vary, but usually total 3 to 6 live sessions
(less, if I'm working from life AND photos). Having your portrait painted is
truly an unique experience and I like to have as much information about you as
possible before starting the painting. I observe your mannerisms, personality,
and nuances. All the details that will contribute to a wonderfully accurate and
lifelike portrait.
If the above posing schedule is not possible, I take my own photos and still
would like to meet with you for 1-2 hours to get a sense of who you are, what
you envision, and to start the painting process with a sketch (oil, watercolor,
or charcoal), and/or color study.
My goal is to keep you informed during the whole experience. When the portrait
is near completion I will send you digital images of the work and we can
discuss it over the phone, or via e-mail. This will be the last opportunity to
make changes/alterations.
Fees
The fee for the portrait will be payable in two installments. A non-refundable
deposit of 1/3 of the total fee is due at the initial session, the remaining
2/3 is due upon completion of the work. Your final payment is considered a
formal indication of your satisfaction, after which time I will not make any
further changes/alterations.
A basic frame is included in our agreed upon price. Shipping/handling/crating
charges are added onto the fee.
My work may not be altered or reproduced, and I retain the copyright on the
image. I reserve and retain the right to use the image for promotional
purposes, including but not limited to brochures and other printed material,
publications including books and articles about my work, and websites and films
showing my work.
Portrait fees begin at $2,000. Please contact me for details.
